Vintage Treasure Hunt
I now understand the enjoyment of thrift store shopping in its entirety! I recently won a gift certificate to a local Salvation Army store during a Ladies Night Out event I attended. I am in a bit on the germ-a-phobe side so the thought of any used fabric item whatsoever freaks me put. But, people find some nice one-of-a-kind items. I never thought I would be lucky enough to be one of those people....that is, until I saw this beauty sitting on a shelf! I almost left, but something told me to go pick it up and open it. I couldn't believe what I was holding! The quality of the silk, the perfection of the piece..it was vintage! And, love at first touch! What made this even more special is when I opened it up, there was a cute little silk coin purse to match along with a penny left inside. I have always been told when you see a random penny it is a gentle reminder from someone you love in Heaven.
After I got home, I couldn't help but sit and admire my find and wonder what the story behind this equistive bag was. Who owned it, why was it donated, and where/what events did it get to attend. As for the penny....the date showed 1965. The year my biological mother, who now lives in my heart, was born. And, it will have a permanent home inside this absolutely stunning vintage, emerald silk, gold chained bag!
I, also, snatched up this gorgeous whimsical faux gold owl pendant! I'm hoping to either find a long chain to put him on, or I may end up mounting it in a small frame to hang on my wall.
Needless to say, I have developed a little bit of the vintage shopping fever!
